Midwest

North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri

The Midwest United States is best known for its vast expanses of farmland dotted with the occasional large urban hub. The cuisine in this region of America is some of the least fancy on the list in this blog, but still no less delicious. Many famous American breweries hail from this region, so it goes without saying that there is a strong beer drinking culture in this part of the country. Midwest food is influenced by Native American, as well as immigrant cuisines, including German, Eastern European, Italian and Scandanavian. Dairy products and meat feature heavily in many Midwestern dishes. Much like other areas of the US, a strong barbecue culture exists in the Midwest, with Kansas City BBQ being the most well-known from this part of the country.
